There is also some technical details below about what tools we use to design websites and other materials. Please do not hesitate to call us at (808) 927-3752 if you have any questions.

Web design and redesign

Your website is a major marketing and communication tool. We can help you to match the design and function of it to align with your target audience, your marketing goals, and your business operations. What? You haven't even looked at your website since 5 years ago when your nephew created it? We can update it to reflect what your business has grown to be now.

Services that support web design and redesign

A customized website involves a wide range of supporting tasks. Even if you are able to put together your own website by using a do-it-yourself web design kit such as Website Tonight by GoDaddy, WordPress, SiteBuilder, or a flash template, you may be missing one or more important components of your website. Ki Insights can help you to develop marketing offers and target audience definition, and to determine keywords for search engine optimization.

The sample shown on the right is a spreadsheet that Ki Insights used to develop a customer's list of SEO keywords. It is a sample only--the actual keywords are blanked out.

Newsletters and flyers

Newsletters and flyers, whether they are online and sent via e-mail, or printed on hardcopy to distribute, are still very popular ways to stay in touch with your customers and to invite them to events. Ki Insights will be happy to design, write, and publish your company newsletters and flyers. We can prepare them to be uploaded to your website by your web designer in PDF or HTML format (to be embedded into your website), or else arrange them to be printed at a reasonable price.

The first sample shown on the right is a 4-page newsletter with no staple (all pages are printed on the same paper folded over).

The second sample is an invitation to an event; the photo of the boat was furnished by the customer.

Online calendar

Use an online calendar to list your classes and events in an easy-to-read format. If you sell your products mostly at swap meets and craft fairs, your customers can find you to purchase your products (not everyone is comfortable with purchasing things online). If you teach classes, list your class topics, locations, and time and date. Ki Insights can assist you with setting up a registration form, and even a Buy Now button so they can pay for your classes on the spot.

A penny saved is a penny earned. Putting your calendar and class information online and regularly updated will enable smoother business operations. Your customers can access your event information and register at their convenience. If you have your class registration and checkout set up to launch from your calendar, your customers can navigate through your website easily and at the time that is most convenient for them.

The first sample shown on the right is a freeform calendar designed by Ki Insights.

The second sample shown on the right is a portion of a more traditional calendar that shows the company's class schedule for the month. The customer can click on "Register For Class" which will take them to a registration page where they can fill out required information. When they send the information, they are taken automatically to a class selection shopping cart and then to a checkout page.

PowerPoint slide deck design and creation

PowerPoint 2010 is not your father's PowerPoint. Nowadays PowerPoint has multimedia capabilities to embed video, slideshows, music, and voiceovers. Using PowerPoint is an easy way to create an informational slideshow that can be uploaded to YouTube, or to your website. You can offer a multimedia PowerPoint slideshow in your shopping cart as something your customer can purchase. Ki Insights can also convert how-to manuals and documents into PDF files that can be downloaded as an offer in your website's landing pages.

Ki Insights can design a custom background, such as the one shown on the right, for your PowerPoint slides with a stylized, custom look for your company presentations.

Shopping cart

Are you thinking about selling your products online in a shopping cart? You will need to plan it out very thoroughly. Setting up an online shopping cart might involve:

  • selecting your cart vendor such as PayPal, Authorize.net, LinkPoint Cart
  • comparing and purchasing your merchant account from the selected vendor. Some accounts can cost hundreds of dollars a month, including purchasing the secure socket layer needed to keep all of the sales transactions secure on the Internet.
  • setting up drop shipment arrangements with the companies that manufacture and supply your products
  • setting up a fulfillment process in your company to handle all incoming purchase requests
  • setting up a customer service department to handle questions, comments, and problems
  • setting up the product inventory in your shopping pages, including colors, sizes, and other choices, prices, discounts, photos of the products, and descriptions
  • determine and set up how you want to handle sales tax
  • determine and set up shipping options and fees
  • determine how you want to attract visitors to your shopping cart (email blasts, mailings)
Please contact Ki Insights--we will help you (free of charge) to determine if e-commerce is feasible for your company and the products it offers.

Photo galleries and slideshows

Example Of A Photo Slideshow For Your Website

We can design a slideshow that starts automatically when your customer visits your webpage, and is the size of one photograph. Or we can design a gallery of photos that becomes a slideshow when the customer clicks on one of the pictures, as shown below.

Slideshows are very handy to showcase your work. When the slideshow is also published on YouTube, it will boost up your search engine ranking.

Those pesky little technical details...

Ki Insights designs your website starting from scratch using HTML code and the CSS markup language. We have found this to be the easiest and most flexible way to design highly stylized and customized websites to meet our customers' requirements. We do not use Content Management software, templates, sitebuilders, and similar automated web design software. For embedded items such as online forms and photo galleries, we use software from CoffeeCup Software, VisualLightBox. For image editing, we mostly use an open-source software called The GIMP, which is very similar to Photoshop.

In order to fulfill occasional requests from our customers for their ability to make quick edits to the content of their website without going through us, Ki Insights uses a web hosting company called HostGator, which offers web hosting on a platform called cPanel. Ki Insights provided complimentary training and documentation to a staff member of the customer below, showing how to backup the web page and then using cPanel to edit time-sensitive class information.

Example of cPanel Screen: Please note that the customer can only click on text, not images, in the cPanel Screen to edit the page. In this way, the layout of the website is not ruined by an accidental mistake in editing.

This customer has had a dramatic reduction in the number of phone calls into their office from their customers asking frequently asked questions. These questions are now answered in the website. A penny saved is a penny earned, and the reduction in wear and tear on the staff member now makes her much more productive in her job.
